FGB’s Kim Smith Named Conference USA Player of the Week

Smith averaged 25.0 points and 10.0 rebounds, while shooting 51.7 percent from the field and 51.9 from beyond the 3-point line. She also hit all six attempted free throws as Florida Atlantic defeated Tulsa on the road and lost at home to UAB in overtime. She tallied back-to-back double-doubles and earned her career-high 33 points at Tulsa. Smith’s nine made 3-pointers and FAU’s 13 team threes set a school and Donald W. Reynolds Center facility records. She has now made 66 threes this season, which ties the FAU single-season record. Her 14 3-pointers are the most for any Owl player in a two-game span this season. Saturday marked Smith’s 20th game of the year with multiple treys and extended her streak to 26 consecutive games with a made 3-pointer. This is Smith’s first career C-USA Player of the Week honor and FAU’s sec-ond of the season as Takia Brooks shared the weekly honor on Dec. 16
