8 2018’s To Watch at the #FGBSpringShowcase

Ja’Miah Bland has had one of the best freshman seasons of anyone in the Sunshine State this year.

Without a doubt the best stage in Florida to showcase yourself as a young player is the FGB Spring Showcase, regardless of what club they play on now just about every top player the last 10 years has taken the court at the FGB Spring Showcase to earn their stripes. This year will be no different with a very talented 2018 class. Here are 8 2018’s to watch this weekend in Bradenton, Fl.

Ja’Miah Bland 6-0 Wing Dunbar HS Ft Myers, Fl FGB 2018 – 30 points and 18 rebounds is impressive in a state championship game but it is elite when you are just a freshman. Ja’Miah Bland had the best freshman season of any freshman in Florida and looks to be developing into an elite prospect nationally. She joins FGB on the big stage this year and college coaches are sure to follow.

Alyssa Jones 6’0 Forward Alonso HS Tampa, FL Tampa Inferno 9th – Powerful athlete who has tons of raw potential. Jones recorded just about any accolade they could give in Tamp this year as just a freshman in addition to leading Alonso to the playoffs. Jones needs to continue to develop her outside game but could be one of the elite prospects in the south in 2018.

Ashley Sieper 6-2 Forward Sickles HS Tampa, FL Tampa Inferno 9th – Post players are always at a premium but Sieper had a strong freshman campaign under Mark Key at Sickles and looks to be possibly the top post prospect in Florida in 2018. Look for as she continues to become more skilled her to be able to dominate games with her size and athletic ability.

Sydney Jones 5-10 Wing Palm Beach Central HS Miami Suns 9th Gold – Another fantastic athlete who might be the best 2018 prospect in South Florida. Jones can play 4 spots on the floor and is an elite defender. In a program like the Miami Suns there is no doubt she will attain national attention quickly.

Charelle Washington 5-8 Guard Island Coast Fort Myers, Fl – College Bound 2018 – Heard a lot from Jerry Ellis about Washington who with Leanna Ellis helped Island Coast to their best season in school history. Washington in addition to Bland make up 2 of the top 3 2018’s in Lee County and I look forward to seeing her on the big stage this weekend in Bradenton.

Emari Bell 6-0 Forward Edgewater HS Orlando, Fl – Orlando Yellow Jackets 9th – Another very talented Forward from Orlando who had a standout freshman season at Orlando Edgewater. Look for Bell to potentially be the next star to come out of College Park.

Kelli Thomas 6-2 Post The First Academy Orlando, FL – Florida Lightning 2018 – Sister of one of Florida’s great players Krystal Thomas of the WNBA got rave reviews in 2014 at the FGB Spring Showcase. Look for Thomas to continue to develop and possibly follow in her sisters footsteps as an elite college prospect.

Samantha Vega 6-5 Post Doral Academy – ESBA Jaguars – I have yet to see Vega play but 6-5 jumps off the page at me. Several players have come through Dade County with size and left as All Americans. I am excited to see Vega for the first time this weekend.
